Steelers vs Patriots Recap
The Pittsburgh Steelers faced off against the New England Patriots on Sunday, September 8th. It was not the season opener the Steelers were hoping for, as they lost to the Patriots 33-3.
Nothing went right for the Steelers this game. Ben Roethlisberger and the offense could not reach the end zone, while the defense couldn’t keep the Patriots out of it. The Patriots scored a touchdown in the first quarter, another in the second quarter, and two field goals in the second. At half time, the Patriots were up 20-0.
Chris Boswell achieved one field goal, finally putting the Steelers on the board. The Patriots retaliated by scoring another touchdown and a field goal. The third quarter ended with the Patriots up 30-3. In the fourth quarter, T.J. Watt left the game with a hip injury. The Steelers attempted to gain back some momentum but failed. Roethlisberger threw the ball 47 times but only managed 276 yards and an interception. The final score was 33 for the Patriots and only 3 for the Steelers.
Despite this disappointing loss, the team says that this one game does not define the rest of their season. They are looking forward to their first home game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, September 15th at 1:00 P.M.
