Steelers vs Browns Recap

The Pittsburgh Steelers took on the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Browns would eventually win the game 21-7, but their victory was quickly overshadowed by a nasty brawl at the end of the fourth quarter.

The Browns were quick to strike when Greedy Williams tackled James Conner in the backfield.  They continued their initial momentum by scoring the first touchdown of the game.  At the end of the first quarter, the Browns were up 7-0. Ola Adeniyi, Artie Burns, and Conner were all taken to the locker room to be evaluated for injuries. The second quarter started off with Browns scoring their second touchdown of the night. Their defense made it difficult for the Steelers’ to score any points or make big plays. JuJu Smith-Schuster was also taken the locker room to be evaluated after suffering from a concussion in the second quarter. The Browns were still up 14-0 at halftime.

The Steelers kept trying to find their footing in the third quarter. Mason Rudolph didn’t seem to be on his best game since he was intercepted multiple times throughout the game. T.J. Watt was able to sack Baker Mayfield, but a Browns player retaliated by hitting Diontae Johnson late in the play which gave Johnson a concussion. The Steelers finally got points on the scoreboard when Jaylen Samuels got a touchdown. However, the Browns were still up 15-7 at the end of the third quarter. The Browns scored another touchdown in the last quarter. A brawl broke loose in the last few seconds of the game between Mason Rudolph, Myles Garrett, Maurkice Pouncey, and Larry Ogunjobi. Garrett pulled Rudolph’s helmet off and then proceeded to hit Rudolph’s exposed head with the helmet. Garrett, Pouncey, and Ogunjobi were all ejected after the game. The final score was 21-7 in favor of the Browns.

The Steelers will have some time to recover from this game due to a 10-day break. Their next game is against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, November 24th at 1:00 P.M.
