Steelers vs Chargers Recap

The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a much-needed win last night against the Los Angeles Chargers. After multiple injuries and a disappointing loss last week, the Steelers were able to defeat the Chargers 24-17.

Rookie third-string quarterback Devlin Hodges started for the Steelers last night and directed the offense with confidence. He threw for 132 yards and finished with 15 completions. It was a solid first NFL start for Hodges, but it is unclear where he will fit into the lineup once backup quarterback Mason Rudolph is back on his feet. Another star on the offense was James Conner. He had both receiving and rushing touchdowns and finished with 78 of the Steelers 132 passing yards.

On the defensive side, Devin Bush’s performance was notable. He recovered a fumble for a touchdown and had an interception just in the first quarter. Bush has also led the team in tackles almost every game so far this season. T.J. Watt and Stephon Tuitt also made big plays before having to leave the field due to injuries. Watt had four of the six Steelers quarterback hits. Contributions also came from Cam Heyward, Bud Dupree, and Anthony Chickillo.

The Steelers put up 24 points before the Chargers even got on the scoreboard. All of the Chargers points were scored in the fourth quarter, but the Steelers were able to shut down most of their plays throughout the rest of the game. The injuries for the Steelers continue to rack up, but the team is headed into a bye week so there is time to recover. The next game is on Monday, October 28th against the Miami Dolphins at 8:15 P.M.
